William Sharp began taking surf photos in southern California in the early 1970s and was quickly drawn into the fledgling skateboard scene, photographing his friends mimicking the surf movements on the sidewalk. He documented the meteoric rise of the movement, capturing thousands of photographs. Back in the Day presents hundreds of amazing Sharp photos from this era. The work is invaluable, for its documentary value, and for the beautiful and poetic images captured and developed later by Sharp. The photos are populated by the avant-garde of the scene such as Tony Alva, Jay Adams, Jerry Valdez, Steve Caballero and Jay Smith, among many others.
